Club Meeting Info

The AOSNY astronomy club meeting is typically held the first Sunday of each month at 1:30pm. Our in-person meeting format includes: meeting information, member observing reports, news, refreshments, socializing and a guest speaker. Our events page has details on upcoming guest speakers and other club meeting information.

The Amateur Observers’ Society uses the Webex group meeting system.

In-person

We currently alternate between two in-person meeting locations: Berliner Hall, Room 117 at Hofstra University or The Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City. Check our home page to see where this month’s meeting will be held.

Driving Directions to Berliner Hall, Hofstra University

From New York City: From the Queens Midtown Tunnel, continue on the Long Island Expressway (I-495) East to exit 38, Northern State Parkway East, to the Meadowbrook Parkway South (exit 31A. Stay on the Meadowbrook Parkway until Exit M4 (sign reads “Hempstead” and “Coliseum”). Then Follow “From All Points,” below.

From eastern Long Island: Take the Northern State Parkway West, to the Meadowbrook Parkway South (Exit 31A) or take the Southern State Parkway West to the Meadowbrook Parkway North (Exit 22N). Stay on the Meadowbrook Parkway until Exit M4 (sign reads “Hempstead” and “Coliseum”). Then Follow “From All Points,” below.

From All Points: From Exit M4 of the Meadowbrook Parkway you will be on Route 24 West (Hempstead Turnpike). Stay on 24W for about one mile and pass Nassau Coliseum. Hofstra University is on both sides of Hempstead Turnpike. Turn left on California Avenue, it’s the first street after Dunkin Donuts/Baskin Robbins. Berliner Hall is the first tall building on the left.

Driving Directions to the Cradle of Aviation Museum

The Cradle of Aviation Museum is part of Nassau County’s Museum Row. It is located on Charles Lindbergh Blvd. in East Garden City next to Nassau Community College.

Driving Directions Meadowbrook Parkway to exit M4, follow signs to Museum Row. Stay on Charles Lindbergh Blvd. to the second traffic light and turn right into the parking lot.

Public Transportation Bus: The N16 Hempstead-Rockville Centre bus route stops almost directly in front of the Museum. Train: Taxis available from the Garden City, Mineola, and Westbury LIRR stations.
