Come join us on a five hour excursion out to dark skies beyond the reach of the NYC area light pollution aboard the Starstream VIII. The ship is one of the several of the Captain Lou Fleet which has been the top name in the fishing/cruising business since 1948. Conveniently located in Central Nassau County at Freeport, and just a half-hour or less from New York City and Eastern Long Island, the ship is:

• U.S. Coast Guard certified and inspected
• Climate controlled cabins (non-smoking)
• Ladies accommodations
• Beginner and child friendly

We will board the ship which leaves the docks at dusk (6:30) and sail out into the Atlantic, far from the city lights to view the pristine skies with binoculars. A list of celestial objects will be provided and by special resolution, attendees will be able to earn the AOS Binocular Challenge pin for observing 30 of these objects. The cruise will return back to the docks about 11:30PM If weather is deemed to be unfit due to unfavorable conditions of the sea or the sky, we will reschedule to the earliest favorable date. Possibilities include rescheduling to the following evening or the following Saturday.

The cost of the cruise is only $90 per person, including tips to the crew, but will be reduced to $80 for the first 30 reservations made & paid by September 13th. No refunds will be issued after September 13th. Checks should be made out to “Amateur Observers’ Society of NY”. For those who use Paypal, please use the form below.
